This eSIM plan from Maya is a very solid pick for your typical holiday in Bhutan.
10 GB should be enough for the majority of travellers.
It's valid for 15, which is enough for most (if you’re lucky enough to be in Bhutan for longer you can check-out the best plans for longer stays).

This $12.00 plan from Alosim is great for a short trip or weekend in Thimphu. With 2 GB, you’ll have enough data for messaging, looking directions on Google Maps, browsing restaurant reviews, and a bit of social media.
If you end up needing more data, you can always purchase a new eSIM package.

Every year, Bhutan attracts many visitors for its reclusiveness adventures, and the breathtaking sites like the Tiger's Nest Monastery and the Buddha Dordenma statue, and a touch of eco-friendliness. If you're heading there soon, I've got some connectivity tips for you.
Because you won't be able to use your home mobile data as usual in Bhutan, you'll probably want to get an eSIM instead. These can be downloaded and installed right from your phone ahead of time and offer affordable rates while you're abroad (certainly at least compared to roaming).
The travel eSIM market in Bhutan is a market with limited competition, we found only 5 providers offering a limited set of plans (from 0.1GB to 10GB), which puts the country in 219/236 position on our global Simsurf Index (you can find more market insights at the end of the page).
With as many as 25 different eSIM plans on the market according to our comparison (often with minimal differences), finding the best among them can seem tricky. Airalo is probably the most popular eSIM brand out there, with around 10 million global customers, last time I checked. And it's popular for good reason. It offers among the best rates not just to Bhutan, but to many destinations, and its app is incredibly simple. The whole Airalo experience seems designed around one thing: getting you connected as quickly and painlessly as possible.
The team and I here at SimSurf have tested Airalo in 10 countries on three continents, and we were happy every time.
To summarise, if you're looking for an affordable, beloved, and hassle-free eSIM, then Airalo is your best bet. You won't be disappointed. New customers get 15% off with SIMSURF15, and returning customers get 10% off with S10!
