With more and more modern smartphones being eSIM compatible, it's becoming more efficient to list the most popular phones that aren't eSIM compatible.

The XR and XS were the first iPhones to have eSIM technology, but any device prior to that won't support eSIMs. If you have a Samsung phone, then you'll need at least a Galaxy 20 to activate an eSIM for your device.

Another reason why you might not be able to use an eSIM on your phone is if it's not carrier-unlocked. If you purchased your smartphone from your carrier, they might have lock the phone to only use their network (especially if you're still paying off your phone).

List of eSIM compatibles phones

A quick way to make sure your phone is eSIM compatible is to go to your settings, search for the "Mobile network" or "Cellular" menu, and check if you find an option to add an eSIM.
